Wilhelm Mile

Wilhelm Meile (born August 6, 1886 in Kirchberg (SG) , † December 9, 1973 in Bern ) was a Swiss economist and politician .

Life

Mile graduated from the Schwyz college . From 1908 to 1913 he studied economics at the Universities of Friborg , Bern , Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Berlin and Universität Munich and received his doctorate in Friborg in 1913 with a dissertation entitled “Switzerland at the World Exhibitions”.

From 1917 Wilhelm Meile was head of the Basel Sample Fair , where he founded Radio Basel in 1926 together with Hans Zickendraht . He was the Basel Education Councilor from 1931 to 1938, and the Catholic-Conservative National Councilor from 1935 to 1938.

In 1938 Meile joined the Swiss Federal Railways , where he was President of the General Management from 1940 to 1949.

Meile was a co-founder of the Association of Christian Entrepreneurs in Einsiedeln .
