Wilhelm Meisner

Wilhelm Meisner (born October 5, 1881 in Wanne ; † January 2, 1956 in Munich ) was a German ophthalmologist and university professor.

Life

Wilhelm Meisner did his Abitur in 1901 at the Joachimsthalschen Gymnasium in Berlin. He then studied in Marburg, Berlin, Kiel and Strasbourg medicine . During his studies, Maßmann became a member of the Association of German Students in Berlin and of the Association of German Students in Strasbourg . In 1906 he received his doctorate in Strasbourg. A year later he became an assistant to Emil Krückmann at the University Eye Clinic in Königsberg . After completing his habilitation in Königsberg in 1912, Meisner went to Berlin. From 1912 to 1924 he worked as a private lecturer, assistant and senior physician at the Berlin University Eye Clinic . During the First World War he served as a medical officer in the reserve. From 1924 to 1935 Meisner was a full professor for ophthalmology in Greifswald, then until 1937 in Cologne and then in Munich. In December 1945 he was dismissed from office by the military government and retired in 1948 .

Before 1933 Meisner was a member of the Pan-German Association and the German National People's Party . In 1934 he joined the SA , in 1937 he became a member of the NSDAP .
