Wilhelm Michel Ellis
Wilhelm Michel Ellis (born October 10, 1926 in Willemstad ; † September 24, 2003 ibid) was a Dutch bishop of the Roman Catholic Church of the Willemstad diocese .
Life
Ellis was ordained a priest on October 24, 1953 . On August 7, 1973 he was appointed Bishop of Willemstad. Ellis was the second bishop of the Willemstad diocese and the first to come from Curacao . His episcopal ordination took place on November 25, 1973. The main consecrator was his predecessor Johannes Maria Michael Holterman OP ; Co-consecrators were Archbishop Luigi Barbarito , Apostolic Nuncio in Haiti , and Samuel Emmanuel Carter SJ , Archbishop of Kingston in Jamaica . In late 1999, Ellis offered to resign for health reasons. On June 24, 2000 Pope John Paul II appointed Luigi Antonio Secco as coadjutor . Ellis retired on October 11, 2001, the day after his 75th birthday.
