Wilhelm Schluckebier

Wilhelm Schluckebier (born November 3, 1949 in Diemelsee ) is a German lawyer . From 1999 to 2006 he was a judge at the Federal Court of Justice . From 2006 to 2017 he was a judge at the Federal Constitutional Court .

Life

Schluckebier put after graduation in 1969 at the Old State School Korbach his state examinations in 1975 and 1978 in Giessen and Frankfurt from, entered 1978 in the higher judicial service of the State of Hesse and was 1981 for the judges at district court appointed. From 1981 to 1983 he was the department head for criminal revision matters at the Office of the Attorney General in Berlin . In 1983 he was seconded to the Federal Constitutional Court, where he worked as a research assistant for the judges wall and carrier (second senate). After a further activity at the regional court of Giessen , Schluckebier was seconded to the Federal Chancellery under Kohl , where he was employed in the administration and law department as a consultant for constitutional issues in 1988/1989. He was then appointed as a judge at the Higher Regional Court and reassigned to the Federal Prosecutor's Office at the Federal Court of Justice, where he dealt with state security matters.

In 1995 Schluckebier became a federal prosecutor . In this function he headed the litigation and legal department of the Federal Prosecutor's Office. In 1999 he was elected judge at the Federal Court of Justice . Since then he has been a member of the 1st Criminal Senate , and since 2004 he has also held the office of presidential judge .

On September 7, 2006, Schluckebier was elected by the Bundestag at the suggestion of the CDU / CSU as the successor to Evelyn Haas , who left office on September 30, 2006 after the end of her regular twelve-year term.

On October 2, 2006, Schluckebier received the certificate of appointment from Federal President Horst Köhler and was active in the First Senate of the Federal Constitutional Court until 2017 (as the only criminal lawyer).

Schluckebier is married and has two children. He is a member of the CDU , but has never been involved in party politics.

On October 23, 2015, Schluckebier was awarded an honorary doctorate by the Law Faculty of the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen.

His tenure as Federal Constitutional Court judge ended prematurely in November 2017, as he reached the age limit of 68 one year before the end of a scheduled twelve-year term. His successor was Josef Christ , who took office on December 1, 2017.

On the occasion of the termination of his activity he was honored with the Great Federal Cross of Merit with a star and shoulder ribbon.

He has been the insurance ombudsman since April 1, 2019 .
