Wilhelm Velthaus

Wilhelm (Willi) Heinz Velthaus (born March 30, 1886 in Dorstfeld , † March 29, 1934 in Hanover ) was a German teacher and politician .

Life

Born the son of a magazine manager, Velthaus studied German and New Languages ​​in Marburg and Münster after attending grammar school in Dortmund . During his studies in 1905 he became a member of the Alemannia Marburg fraternity , from which he left in 1925. After his studies he worked as a scientific teacher at the public rectorate school in Lengerich and at the pedagogy in Barsinghausen . In 1910 he became head of the private teaching institutions of the trade and industry association in Bückeburg . In 1917 he was promoted to Dr. phil. PhD . He also studied economics for a semester . In 1919 he became an unpaid councilor for the city of Bückeburg. In 1921 he became the syndic of the state welfare office in Schaumburg-Lippe , which he headed from 1923. In 1925 he took over the editing of the journal Die private Höhere Knabenschule. News sheet of the Reich Association of Private Higher Boys Schools and Preparatory Agencies e. V. In 1927 he moved to Berlin-Charlottenburg , where he worked from July 1st as an unskilled worker in the senior service of the police headquarters and was appointed to the government council on June 21, 1928 . From 1928 to 1933 he was district administrator in the district of Osterode am Harz . He became a member of the SPD , from which he left in 1933. His attempt to become a member of the NSDAP failed; he was arrested on May 22, 1933 and sentenced on July 24 to three years' imprisonment and a fine for theft and embezzlement of funds. Still weakened by the consequences of an earlier traffic accident, Velthaus died in 1934 in the prison hospital in Hanover.
