The Wilhelm Welser Verkehrsbetriebe Traun ( WWT for short ) are a transport company in the south of Linz . The WWT lines connect Linz and Traun with the communities of Ansfelden , Hörsching , Leonding , Pasching , Pucking and St. Marien . The most important stops are Linz Hauptbahnhof , where lines 4, 611, 612 and 618 end, and the Traun Hauptplatz stop, where all WWT lines stop except for line 14.

There are currently 12 intercity bus routes, four Traun city bus routes and two city bus routes from Kirchdorf an der Krems and Micheldorf in Upper Austria . 34 buses are owned by WWT. About 3000 schoolchildren and about 7500 passengers use the WWT lines every day.

history

WWT was founded on May 15, 1935, at that time there were two lines: Line 1 ran between Linz via Traun to Neubau (comparable to today's line 8). There were six buses per day on this line in each direction. There were eight buses in each direction on Sunday and public holidays, and seven buses on Thursday. Line 2 ran between Traun and Pucking (comparable to today's line 6). Line 2 only ran on Monday and there were two buses in each direction.

In 1939 the WWT was taken over by the Deutsche Reichspost until 1945. Goods were transported during the war. After the war, the traffic was taken over again, and from 1950 traffic in Linz-Land was expanded. Excursions were also offered.

In 1956 WWT owned 15 buses running on six bus routes.

In 1957 Wilhelm Welser senior died, his wife Luise Welser took over the transport company. The customer office and a buffet were opened in Linzerstraße (Traun), which still exist today. In the next few years the vehicle fleet was renewed and expanded. In 1974 Wilhelm Welser's son took over the transport company. In 1977 a 10,000 m² plot of land was purchased for the bus garage in Haid (Nestroystraße). But it wasn't until 1988 that a 1,400 m² covered garage was built.

In 1980 a bus station was opened at the main square in Haid, which became an important transfer hub in Haid.

In 1994 the WWT joined the Upper Austrian Transport Association . The Citybus was also introduced in Traun in the 1990s.

December 2004 the terminus of lines 1, 2, 4 and 8 was moved from Linz Volksgarten to the Linz bus terminal. Since then, only line 13 has been going to the Volksgarten.

In 2009, WWT opened a city bus network for Kirchdorf and Micheldorf that consists of two lines.

The WWT also owns coaches, the WWT offers excursions to Sopron and sometimes trips lasting several days.

There are currently a total of 18 bus routes. Of these, 12 are intercity bus routes and six are city bus routes.

There is currently a ring line, which is line 611. This runs every hour in both directions from Linz Hbf via Meixnerkreuzung – Langholzfeld – Traun – Haid – Nettingsdorf – Ansfelden – Freindorf – Ebelsberg back to Linz Hbf.

The S1 line was introduced in 2008 to connect Linz with the Haid Center and IKEA . Line S1 runs on the motorway and is therefore faster than line 1.

Bus routes 7 and 9 are school bus routes and therefore run from schools.

There is only one line that does not start in Traun: Line 14 runs between Nettingsdorf and St. Marien via Nöstlbach.

Four city bus routes operate in Traun, two of which each from Traun's main square and from the Linzerstraße stop provide access to all parts of the city. Line 630 goes from Hauptplatz to the Oedt district, line 631 goes from Hauptplatz via Trauner and St. Martiner train stations and connects St. Martin with Traun, line 632 goes from Linzerstraße to Haferstraße, line 633 goes from Linzerstraße to Langholzstraße.

The city bus routes run every 30 minutes, on weekdays and certain public holidays between 5 a.m. and 8 p.m., on Saturdays only between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m.

Two city bus lines operated by WWT operate in Kirchdorf and Micheldorf, line 495 runs between the Kirchdorf and Micheldorf stations, line 494 runs from the Kirchdorf Federal School Center via the Kirchdorf station to Kiemoserstraße. The city buses run here every three hours and only run on working days (Monday to Saturday).

Vehicle fleet

WWT owns 14 12 m buses, six of which are Mercedes O405N and one MAN NL 202. Four buses were purchased, two of them from Sweden, two others from Linz AG Linien. The fleet also includes three 15 m buses, two of which are Mercedes Citaro and the other is a Setra bus. There are also six 18 m articulated buses, four of which are Mercedes O405GN, one MAN NG 272 and one Mercedes Citaro.

There is a fleet of five small 8 m buses for the Traun city buses. Four of them run on the four lines and one bus is a reserve.
