Bruce Vilanch

Bruce Vilanch (born November 23, 1948 in New York City ) is an American actor , comedian and cabaret artist .

Life

After leaving school, Vilanch studied theater and journalism at Ohio State University and received his bachelor's degree in 1970 . He then worked as an actor in plays and was one of the authors of the television production Star Wars Holiday Special in 1978 . In addition to his work at the theater, Vilanch made various short appearances in episodes of Bosom Buddies and Law & Order in the 1980s . In 1988 he appeared in the television production Hollywood Today , where he was interviewed by Chris Aable. In the following years, Vilanch wrote various program content for comedy programs, especially for Billy Crystal . In 2000, Vilanch performed his stage program Almost Famous at the Westbesth Theater in New York City. In 2005, Vilanch played the role of Edna Turnblad in the Broadway musical Hairspray . Vilanch also took part in the television series Celebrity Fit Club .

Two television documentaries have already been made about Vilanch's life: Get Bruce in 1999 and Laughing Matters… The Men in 2007. In 2008, Vilanch starred in Tru Loved and Don't Mess With The Zohan .

Vilanch wrote the song Where is My Man with Fred Zarr and Jacques Morali , which became popular in 1983 with singer Eartha Kitt .

Vilanch lives in New York City .
