Wilhelm Welter (born June 4, 1898 in Jägersfreude ; † November 10, 1966 in Lörrach ) was a German politician ( NSDAP ).

Live and act

After attending primary school , Welter completed a molding apprenticeship in Saarbrücken. On February 15, 1915, he entered the Sobernheim Military Preparatory Institute . Since June 10, 1915 he was trained at the NCO school in Potsdam . From April 10, 1917 he was a member of the 9th Company of Infantry Regiment No. 23, with which he participated in the First World War . During the war Welter fought in Russia , Flanders , on the Isonzo and in France. On October 1, 1918, he was seriously wounded, with the result that his leg was amputated. After the war, in which he received the Iron Cross 2nd class, Welter earned his living from October 1, 1919 as an office worker, then from May 1, 1926 to 1937 as a court clerk.

In October 1922 Welter took part in the founding of the NSDAP in Saarbrücken. After the NSDAP was temporarily banned in Saarland and re-admitted, Welter rejoined it in February 1927 ( membership number 55,978). From 1928 to June 1929 he worked as a standard adjutant, but then from January 27, 1929 as district manager and treasurer in Gau Saar. From 1929 he worked there as a Gau speaker and from 1930 to March 1933 he was Gau Treasurer there. In the SA he later rose to the position of Hauptsturmführer. On February 1, 1933, Welter was entrusted with the office of district leader Saarbrücken-Land, which he held until December 1935. From March 1, 1936 to December 30, 1937 he acted as deputy district administrator and personnel administrator of the German Labor Front and then until the beginning of April 1939 as deputy district manager and district chairman of the district administration Saarpfalz of the DAF. After that he was gauging consultant for the collection campaigns in the Saar Palatinate until 1945. At the beginning of October 1938, he was also appointed municipal administrator in Saarbrücken.

On March 1, 1935, Welter entered the National Socialist Reichstag as a representative for Saarland in accordance with Article 2 of the Act on the Representation of Saarland in the Reichstag of January 30, 1935 . In March 1936, he exchanged his mandate for the Saarland for a mandate for constituency 27 (Rheinpfalz-Saar), which he finally held until the end of Nazi rule in spring 1945. He also became mayor of Schiffweiler in September 1940 .

Welter was awarded both the Golden Party Badge and the Loyalty Service Badge of Honor for his longstanding NSDAP membership .
