Wilhelm Wernher

Johann Wilhelm Wernher (born November 13, 1826 in Nierstein ; † May 17, 1906 there ) was a German grocer, winery owner and member of the 1st Chamber of the Estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse ( NLP ).

Wilhelm Wernher was the son of the landowner and member of the National Assembly Philipp Wilhelm Wernher and his wife Auguste nee Carl (1806-1833). Wernher, who was a Protestant denomination, married Justine, born Schuch (1826–1873) in Nierstein on June 24, 1851, the daughter of the cooper and innkeeper "Zur Krone" in Nierstein, Georg Friedrich Schuch, and Johanna Luise, born Curschmann. The following children were born from the marriage:

  • Wilhelm Wernher (1853–1921), winery owner and wine merchant, married to Elise Kessel
  • Luise Wernher (* 1854)
  • Fritz Wernher (* 1864), winery owner, wine merchant

Wernher was the owner of a winery in Nierstein and also ran a grocery store and the post office. He was retired from 1889.

From 1887 to 1893 he was a member of the Second Chamber of the Estates. He was elected for the constituency Rheinhessen 7 / Nieder-Olm . He was also a council member in Nierstein.
