Wilhelm Zepper
Wilhelm Zepper (born April 2, 1550 in Dillenburg ; † August 20, 1607 in Herborn ) was a Reformed theologian. He worked as court preacher and professor in Herborn.
Life
The son of Herborn councilor Konrad Zepper († 1582) and his wife Walpurga, b. Wyß, married Gutha Hatzfeld from Dillenburg in 1573 (1555–1607).
When he was a child, he and his parents from Dillingen moved to Herborn and then to Siegen. He attended the Latin school in Herborn, from 1565 he studied theology at the universities of Marburg and Wittenberg . After that he was first a teacher in Herborn from 1568, then from 1572 chaplain. In 1573 he moved to his place of birth in Dillenburg, and from 1582 he was first pastor and court preacher.
Since 1594 back in Herborn, he became professor of practical theology there from 1599 , at the same time senior pastor and inspector. For the first time, Zepper created a systematic system of reformed church law and organized the reformed church and school system beyond the borders of the county of Nassau-Dillenburg .
Wilhelm Zepper died of the plague in 1607 .
