Wilhelm vom Holtz

Wilhelm Gottfried Karl Freiherr vom Holtz (born April 21, 1801 in Ansbach , † May 23, 1868 in Altdorf) was a German lawyer and politician .

Life

Born the son of a manor and castle owner, von Holtz studied law in Erlangen and Tübingen after attending grammar school in Stuttgart . During his studies in 1822 he became a member of the Germania Tübingen fraternity . After his exams and, from 1825, a traineeship at the Court of Justice in Ulm and the Higher Official Courts in Künzelsau and Leutkirch , he became an employee of the Royal Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1827. From 1829 to 1832 he worked for the Royal Embassy in Munich. From 1833 to 1838 and from 1864 to 1868 he was a member of the Chamber of Deputies of the Württemberg Landtag for knighthood . In 1837 he became chamberlain to Queen Pauline of Württemberg and was later appointed her chief steward, later then court marshal and excellency . He became the landlord of Altdorf and Wißgoldingen . In 1864 he retired.

He became an honorary knight in 1844, legal knight in 1858 and honorary commander of the Order of St. John in 1860 and was a co-founder of the Württembergische Johannitergenossenschaft. He was also on the board of the Württemberg Antiquities Association as well as in numerous other associations.
