Wilhelm von Boeltzig

Wilhelm Ferdinand von Boeltzig (born March 4, 1755 in Groß Salze , † June 30, 1834 in Berlin ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

origin

Boeltzig comes from an Upper Saxon noble family and was related to Novalis . He was the son of Ferdinand von Boeltzig (1712–1793) and his wife Wilhelmine, née von Bissing . His father was the mayor of Groß Salze.

Military career

In 1772 he was employed as an Estandartenjunker in the Leib-Carabiniers-Regiment of the Prussian Army . As a lieutenant, he took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession in 1778/79 and rose to major by October 1790 . As such, Boeltzig became a wing adjutant of King Friedrich Wilhelm II in the same month . In the following year he also became a member of the Upper War College. Even under Friedrich Wilhelm III. Boeltzig continued to serve as a wing adjutant, received the order Pour le Mérite in June 1804 and accompanied the king in 1806/07 during the Fourth Coalition War . Promoted to major general on June 18, 1807, Boeltzig was retired in December of the following year due to his poor health with a pension of 1200 thalers. In recognition of his services, he was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle First Class on December 25, 1809 .

After his death he was buried on July 3, 1834 in Stolzenhagen.

Boeltzig married Auguste Karoline von Beeren (born October 17, 1771, † July 6, 1800) in Schönwalde in 1789. The following children were born from the marriage:
