Friedrich Wilhelm Karl Ludwig von Hessen-Philippsthal-Barchfeld (born August 10, 1786 in Barchfeld , † November 30, 1834 in Copenhagen ) was Prince of Hessen-Philippsthal-Barchfeld from the House of Hesse .

Life

Wilhelm was a son of the paraged Landgrave Adolf von Hessen-Philippsthal-Barchfeld (1743-1803) from his marriage to Luise (1752-1805), daughter of Duke Anton Ulrich von Sachsen-Meiningen .

Wilhelm initially served as a cavalry captain and lieutenant colonel in the royal Danish service. He then worked for the Electorate of Hesse, then was an officer in the Imperial Austrian Uhlan Regiment of Prince Schwarzenberg and finally became Austrian Major General . In 1817 he returned to Denmark as major general , where he became chief of the royal Danish body regiment on horseback.

Wilhelm married Juliane Sophie of Denmark (1788–1850), daughter of Prince Frederick of Denmark (1753–1805) and his wife Sophie Friederike, born on August 22, 1812 in Frederiksberg Castle . Duchess of Mecklenburg (1758–1794). The marriage remained childless.
