Wilhelm von Lieres and Wilkau

Wilhelm Otto Emil Fürchtegott von Lieres and Wilkau (born June 24, 1874 in Breslau ; † January 8, 1948 in Eschwege ) was a German administrative officer and manor owner.

Life

Wilhelm von Lieres and Wilkau studied at the Georg-August University in Göttingen . In 1894 he became a member of the Corps Saxonia Göttingen . After completing his studies and the government traineeship, he passed the government assessor exam for the Prussian civil service in 1902. In 1907 he became the district administrator of the district Lüben appointed. During the First World War he retired from civil service on February 1, 1915 and joined the army as an officer . On March 9, 1915, he was seriously wounded as leader of a squadron in the Hussar Regiment "von Schill" (1st Silesian) No. 4 on the Eastern Front . After recovery he was again until Christmas 1918 as a squadron leader in the Dragoon Regiment "von Bredow" (1st Silesian) No. 4 in the front.

After the war he lived on his Reppline manor. His entire property, which also included the Gallowitz manor near Breslau , had a size of 723 hectares. He was married to Josepha Countess von Bredow . After the Second World War he came to Eschwege in Hesse, where he died.
