Willem Peter Hubert van Blijenburgh (born July 11, 1881 in Zwolle , † October 14, 1936 in Bilthoven ) was a Dutch fencer and naval officer.

Willem van Blijenburgh took part in the 1906 Olympic Intermediate Games in Athens and in four Olympic Games . In 1906 he finished fifth with the epee team and was eliminated in the individual competitions with the foil, the epee and the saber in the preliminary round. Two years later he was eliminated in London again with the sword and the saber in the preliminary round. In 1912 in Stockholm he did not get past the preliminary round with the sword, but celebrated success in team competitions. With the Degen team he reached the final round, which he completed with Jetze Doorman , Arie de Jong , George van Rossem and Leonardus Salomonson on the bronze medal. He also finished third with the saber team and won another bronze medal with Jetze Doorman, Arie de Jong, Hendrik de Longh , George van Rossem and Dirk Scalongne . At the Olympic Games in Antwerp in 1920 he was eliminated again in the preliminary round of the individual competition with the sword, while he finished seventh with the team. He finished the team competition with the saber with the Dutch team, which in addition to Van Blijenburgh also included Henri Wijnoldy-Daniëls , Jetze Doorman, Arie de Jong, Jan van der Wiel , Salomon Zeldenrust and Louis Delaunoij , behind Italy and France again on the bronze rank . In 1924 he failed in Paris with the sword both individually and with the team in the preliminary round.

Van Blijenburgh was an officer in the Royal Navy . He directed the sports school of the Navy at the naval headquarters in Den Helder and wrote several books on gymnastics and physical education. He was the first Dutchman to earn a PhD in physical education.
