William David O'Brien

William David O'Brien (born August 3, 1878 in Chicago , USA , † February 19, 1962 ) was auxiliary bishop in Chicago .

Life

William David O'Brien received on 11 July 1903, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On February 10, 1934, Pope Pius XI appointed him . the titular bishop of Calynda and ordered him auxiliary bishop in Chicago. The Archbishop of Chicago, George Cardinal Mundelein , ordained him episcopal on April 25 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Dallas , Joseph Patrick Lynch , and the Auxiliary Bishop of Chicago, Bernard James Sheil . On November 18, 1953, William David O'Brien was raised to titular archbishop.

In addition to his work in the Archdiocese of Chicago, as President of the Catholic Church Extension Society he supported the development of Catholic communities in the US Virgin Islands and the British Virgin Islands .
