Willibald Katteneder

Willibald Katteneder (born March 20, 1968 in Rechberg ) is an Austrian sculptor , installation artist and nature and landscape mediator in the Mühlviertel Nature Park .

Weaving and knitting

Katteneder completed an apprenticeship as a sculptor in Pasching from 1983 to 1987. From 1988 he studied at the Art Academy Linz with Erwin Reiter in the master class sculpture . In 1995/96 he had a teaching position for wood design there. He has been working with Nikola Jakadofsky in a studio in Rechberg since 1996.

The artist is inspired in his work by landscapes, locations or architectural structures. He consciously uses simple materials that do not have a hint of the noble, elitist and untouchable.

  • Jubilee fountain in Gürtelstraße, Linz, 1990 (1st prize in the fountain competition of the city of Linz, 1989)
  • Sculpture in the sculpture park of the Botanical Garden of the City of Linz, 2002
  • LandART projects as part of the Donaufestwochen (annually since 2004)

Awards

  • Together with Nikola Jakadofsky: Upper Austrian State Prize for Environment and Nature, 2008 (in connection with a special exhibition on the subject of footprint - our ecological footprint and how we can reduce it, 2008 and 2009, Großdöllnerhof )
