The Willy Brandt Comprehensive School is a comprehensive school in the Werne district of Bochum . It was the first German school to be named after the fourth Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany , Willy Brandt .
The school, founded in 1988, consists of two older school buildings and a newly built complex with several sports halls, teaching pools, technology, games and IT rooms, and it also has access to a sports field. The Willy Brandt Comprehensive School has appropriate facilities in the main building, such as a cafeteria and a cafeteria run by parents, students and teachers or a kiosk for the students.
The upper level is housed in a branch (renovated building of a former secondary school ), approx. 1500 m as the crow flies northeast of the main building in the center of the district in the street "Deutsches Reich".
The Willy Brandt Comprehensive School offers around 1330 pupils the opportunity to obtain any general school leaving certificate that can be achieved in North Rhine-Westphalia . About 108 teachers teach the students in various general subjects, with the school's focus on the natural sciences. There are cooperation agreements with the Ruhr University Bochum , the Bochum University of Applied Sciences , the guild of the automotive trade, the Barmer Ersatzkasse and BP .
Numerous working groups are offered on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons. The working groups cover a wide range from chemistry to IT , from billiards to first aid .
The school sports club offers the opportunity to practice or learn different types of sport ( badminton , volleyball , basketball , table tennis , gymnastics, etc.) under the guidance of qualified teachers and trainers .
The Willy Brandt Comprehensive School takes part in the Independent School project run by the state government of North Rhine-Westphalia .
