Willy Kolz

Willy Kolz , sometimes wrong: Wilhelm Kolz (born February 27, 1887 in Börzow ; † January 9, 1942 in Rostock ; full name: Willy Karl Friedrich Gustav Kolz ) was a German educator and head of a college for teacher training in Rostock.

Willy Kolz was born as the son of the farmer and owner of a long-term lease Wilhelm Kolz and his wife Elise Marie Luise, b. Düssler, born in the parish village of Börzow in western Mecklenburg. He attended the Realgymnasium Schönberg (Mecklenburg) , passed the Abitur at the Realgymnasium Bützow and studied German, modern languages ​​and history in Berlin and Rostock. In 1910 he passed the state examination and was 1913 in Rostock with a thesis on the dialect westmecklenburgischen doctorate . After serving in the First World War, he worked as a teacher in Rostock. From 1926 until his death in 1942 he headed the Pedagogical Institute and from 1935 the University for Teacher Training in Rostock, which mainly trained primary school teachers. From 1929 to 1934 Kolz was honorary professor for education at the University of Rostock , although he had hardly any publications. Kolz had been a member of the NSDAP since October 1, 1931, and thus one of two party members among the Rostock professors before 1933. At times he was also a lecturer at the NS guide and advanced training school in Mecklenburg-Lübeck. On November 11, 1933, he was one of the people calling for the professors at German universities to acknowledge Adolf Hitler and the National Socialist state .
