Willy Schneider (born December 20, 1884 in Lübbenau ; † June 22, 1967 ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Life

Schneider did an apprenticeship as a pastry chef from 1899 to 1902 and an apprenticeship as a cook from 1902 to 1904. From 1904 to 1906 he did military service. Between 1906 and 1911 he worked as a cook and master chef in German and foreign hotels, from 1911 to 1914 he was the operator of a guesthouse. From 1914 to 1918 he was a soldier in World War I (most recently as a private). After the war, he ran a restaurant in Bremen from 1919 to 1920, and was also president of the International Association of Chefs in Frankfurt am Main . From 1920 to 1933 he was secretary of the main administration of the Central Association of Hotel, Restaurant and Cafe Employees (Berlin, from 1931 chairman of the Berlin branch). Between 1933 and 1936 he was the operator of a bread factory in Mirow (Mecklenburg), from 1936 to 1942 a hotelier in Friedrichroda and from 1942 to 1947 a hotelier in Bad Ems . From 1949 to 1950 he was an employee of the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of Labor.

In the Weimar Republic he joined the SPD and from 1928 to 1933 he was city councilor and head of the health sector in Berlin-Zehlendorf . After the seizure of power by the Nazis, he could not continue his political work.

1946 to 1948 he was head of the local groups of the SPD and the unified trade union in Bad Ems. In 1946 he became a member of the SPD sub-district executive committee in Koblenz. After 1945 he was a city councilor in Bad Ems and a member of the Unterlahn district committee. In 1946 he was a member of the advisory state assembly .

Between 1926 and 1933 he was an assessor at the Labor Court in Berlin and in the Berlin-Charlottenburg Upper Insurance Office. He was a member of the board of directors of the Allgemeine Ortskrankenkasse Berlin. From 1947 to 1948 he worked as a public plaintiff in Arbitration Chamber II Montabaur .
