Wilmington is a city and the county seat of Clinton County , Ohio , United States of America. In 1810 the city of Clinton was founded. It became the seat of the newly formed Clinton County. In 1811 the name Clinton was changed to Wilmington. In 1828 the city received city rights.

In 1833 Wilmington had a brick courthouse, prison, fourteen shops, two taverns, four churches, four vegetable stores, and 100 residential buildings. According to a census from 2000, the population is 11,921 people. In the 19th century, Wilmington College was founded by a Quaker. Up until the summer of 2009, Wilmington was the Airborne Airpark, one of three DHL freight hubs . In 2016, filmmaker Michael Moore shot the film Michael Moore in TrumpLand at the Murphy Theater, Wilmington .
