Wim Van Huffel (born May 28, 1979 in Oudenaarde ) is a former Belgian cyclist .
Athletic career
Van Huffel turned professional in 2002 with the Belgian cycling team Vlaanderen-T Interim . In 2003 he won the Hel van Het Mergelland . In 2004 he was also eighth in the overall ranking of the Tour of Austria . He then received a contract for 2005 with the Belgian ProTour racing team Davitamon-Lotto . Here he showed an excellent performance at the Giro d'Italia . He stayed in the front area in the mountains and finished eleventh in the overall classification. His best stage results were fourth and fifth. He was also twelfth in the Dauphiné Libéré in the same year and third on the fourth stage to Mont Ventoux .
In the spring of 2010, Wim Van Huffel ended his career as an elite racing driver to join the Belgian army.
