The Winterberg is 315 meters above sea level. NN high mountain in the west of the city of Sprockhövel , district Obersprockhövel , in the Ennepe-Ruhr district , North Rhine-Westphalia . It is the highest point in Sprockhövel.

Location and description

The largely forested mountain lies on the watershed between the river systems of the Felderbach and the Paasbach . While the terrain slopes deeply to the valleys to the north, west and south, the mountain tapers flat to the east towards the watershed. There the district road K33, called Wodantal , runs in a north-south direction . In the vicinity of the summit there is a wind turbine that was commissioned in 2007 and a radio mast is located on a secondary summit . Both systems can be seen from afar.

At its foot lies the Im Kreßsiepen farm , one of the oldest Sprockhövel farms. The largest settlement on the elevation is Am Nockenberg .
