Sule Stack , also Stack Skerry (English stack = rock needle , skerry = archipelago ), is a steep, rocky and uninhabited North Atlantic island in the west of the Scottish Orkney Islands . The island has an area of 2.9 hectares and reaches a height of 36 meters.
About ten kilometers northeast of Sule Stack is the larger island of Sule Skerry , a flat and grassy island with a lighthouse . Both islands are on the Skerry Bank, an otherwise submarine survey and count to UNESCO - Biosphere Reserve , called " Sule Skerry and Sule Stack is known."
