The Wistron Corporation ( Chinese 纬 创 资 通 ) is a large Taiwanese contract manufacturer of information and communication technology . The name results from the English words "wisdom" (wisdom) and "electronics" (electronics).
history
From the Design and Manufacturing Services (DMS) division of Acer Inc. , Wistron emerged as an independent company in 2000 ( spun off from the Acer Group ) in order to achieve a clearer separation of the business under its own brand name from the OEM production. The Wistron Corporation was officially founded on May 30, 2001 in Taipei as an independent company.
On August 19, 2003, Wistron went public on the Taiwan Stock Exchange .
In October 2010 the Wistron Foundation was launched, which is responsible for the company's corporate social responsibility .
Products
Wistron is a manufacturer of information and communication technology . The company mainly produces notebooks and mobile devices such as smartphones or tablets on behalf of large electronics manufacturers. Customers include, for example, Apple , Dell , Motorola and Microsoft . In 2009 Wistron was the third largest manufacturer of notebooks in the world.
Locations
Wistron has locations all over the world. Most of the production takes place in Asia, but there are also individual locations in Europe and North America. The company's global research and development center is also located in Taipei , Taiwan .
