successes
Vitali Parchimowitsch took part in the Olympic Games in Mexico City in 1968 and in Munich in 1972 in two disciplines with the small-bore rifle. In the three-position battle, he placed third with 1154 points behind Bernd Klingner and John Writer and thus won the bronze medal. In the lying position, however, he did not get past 36th place. Four years later he improved to 18th place in the prone position, whereas in the three-position battle he clearly missed the medal places this time in eleventh place with 1144 points.
Parchimowitsch was world champion seven times and vice-world champion just as often. At the 1970 World Championships in Phoenix , he won five titles: with the small caliber he was just as successful in the individual disciplines of standing and three-position fighting as he was in team competitions in three-position and kneeling. He also secured the title in the team competition with the free rifle in the kneeling position. In 1970 he won five silver medals, one of them in singles with the free rifle kneeling and the rest in team competitions. With the free rifle, he won his only bronze medal in the three-position competition. At the following world championship in Thun in 1974 he became world champion with the small bore in the kneeling position in the individual and again with the team. In the three-position fight and in the standing position with the small bore, he took second place in the team competitions. He won his only European title in 1971 in Suhl in a three-position battle with the small bore.
