Witali Wassiljewitsch Iwanow ( Russian Виталий Васильевич Иванов ; born October 22, 1998 in Vyborg ) is a Russian Nordic combined athlete .

Career

Ivanov made his international debut as part of the European Youth Olympic Winter Festival 2015 in Tschagguns , but only finished in the lower ranks both individually and with the team. About a year later he took part in the 2016 Winter Youth Olympic Games in Lillehammer , where he came twelfth in the Gundersen method . Together with Sofja Dmitrijewna Tichonowa , Maxim Sergejew , Maija Jakunina and Igor Fedotow he won the gold medal in the mixed team (both gender and discipline). Between 2016 and 2018 Ivanov took part in three Nordic Junior World Ski Championships . He achieved his best individual result in 2017 in Park City over ten kilometers.

After making his unsuccessful debut in the Nordic Combined Continental Cup at the beginning of January 2016 , he reached the points for the first time at the end of the 2016/17 season in his native Nizhny Tagil . On February 2, 2017, Ivanov started the team competition in the World Cup . It was another two years before he made his debut in Klingenthal before his first start in the individual competition . Ivanov was part of the Russian delegation at the Nordic World Ski Championships 2019 in Seefeld . While he finished 37th on the large hill in the Gundersen competition, he only achieved 48th place on the normal hill and over ten kilometers. Together with Ernest Jachin , Vyacheslav Barkov and Alexander Paschajew , he finished eleventh in the team competition.

In the summer of 2019, Ivanov started in all competitions of the Grand Prix . When a mixed team competition was held for the first time, he was third together with Ernest Jachin, Stefanija Nadymowa and Anastassija Goncharova . In addition, as seventh in the mass start in Klingenthal, he achieved his best result to date at this level. With this achievement behind him, he won the Russian Summer Championships in Tchaikovsky at the end of September . It was not used internationally in winter 2019/20.
