Vitaly Jarema
Witalij Hryhorowytsch Jarema ( Ukrainian Віта́лій Григо́рович Яре́ма , born October 14, 1963 in Strakowa near Perejaslav-Khmelnyzkyj , Kiev Oblast , Ukrainian SSR ), is a Ukrainian lawyer , politician and former police officer. He was appointed First Vice Prime Minister in the Yatsenyuk I Cabinet and was the Prosecutor General of Ukraine from June 19, 2014 to February 10, 2015 .
biography
After Jarema graduated from school in 1981, he served in the Soviet Army until 1983 . From 1983 to 1985 he worked as a policeman in the police station of the Ministry of Interior in Dnipro Raion in Kiev . From 1985 to 1987 he attended the Police School of the Ministry of Interior in Kaliningrad . From 1987 to 1990 he worked again as a police officer in Dnipro.
From 1989 to 1993 he studied at the Academy of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, where he graduated in law . From 1990 to 1993 he worked as an investigator and deputy chief of police in the Dnipro Criminal Police. Until 1999 he worked in Kiev as the deputy head of investigative departments dealing with organized crime. In the same year, by a decree of the President of Ukraine, he was awarded a third class medal for “Impeccable Service”.
From 1999 to 2001 he was the deputy head of the criminal investigation department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. From 2001 to 2003 he was the head of the internal affairs department of the Lvivska Zaliznytsya Railway Company in Lviv Oblast. From February to August 2003 he was the head of the government agency HUBOZ , which deals with organized crime. From November 2003 to 2005 he was the head of the criminal investigation department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. From 2005 to 2010 he was the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
In the parliamentary elections in Ukraine in 2012 , he was elected as a member of the All-Ukrainian Association "Fatherland" as a member of the Verkhovna Rada .
Jarema was appointed First Vice-Prime Minister in the Yazenyuk I cabinet in the course of the events of the Euromaidan . He held this office until June 19. On that day, on the recommendation of President Petro Poroshenko, he was appointed Prosecutor General of Ukraine to succeed Oleh Machnitskyj . On February 10, 2015, he was replaced as Attorney General by Wiktor Schokin .

Jarema is married with one son and two daughters.
