Viktor Pawlowytsch Pschonka ( Ukrainian Віктор Павлович Пшонка , * 6. February 1954 in Serhijiwka , Donetsk Oblast , Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic ) is a Ukrainian lawyer . He was the Attorney General of Ukraine from November 2010 to February 2014 .

biography

In 1980 he graduated from the National Law University in Kharkiv . From 1980 he started working as a public prosecutor in Kramatorsk . From 1983 to 1986 he was head of the department for administrative offices in the city committee of the CPSU of Kramatorsk. From 1986 he worked as a lawyer . In 1997 he worked as the Deputy Chief Public Prosecutor of Donetsk Oblast and from 1998 to 2003 he was the Chief Public Prosecutor of the region. In November 2003 he was appointed Deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine, where he was responsible for organizing the public prosecutor's control of compliance with the legal provisions of the SBU , the tax investigation department and the special units for fighting organized crime. In November 2004 he resigned from this office. At the end of 2006, he was reappointed Deputy Attorney General. On August 20, 2010 he was awarded the Ukrainian Order of Merit III. Class awarded.

On November 4, 2010, Pschonka was appointed Attorney General of Ukraine by decision of the Verkhovna Rada on the recommendation of the then Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych . From November 12, 2010 he was a member of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine .

On February 22nd, 2014, at a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, a vote of no confidence was held against Pschonka and he was injured by a resolution of the parliament on the grounds that his work as the Prosecutor General "resulted in massive violations of the constitutional rights and freedoms of citizens and hundreds of injured Dead ”, dismissed from office. His successor was Oleh Machnitskyj . On the same day he tried to leave Ukraine via Donetsk Airport , but was stopped by border guards. In early March, the European Union and Canada frozen Pschonka's accounts and assets. On April 13 Pschonka took together with Yanukovych and Vitaliy Zakharchenko at a press conference in the Russian Rostov-on-Don in part. On April 28, Interior Minister Arsen Avakov announced that Pschonka had been placed on the international wanted list. On May 30, Pschonka filed a complaint with the European Court of Justice against the sanctions imposed on him by the EU. According to the database of the European Court of Justice, he is a citizen of the Russian Federation. It is not known whether he obtained this citizenship before or after fleeing to Russia.

Private

Pschonka's son Artem, born in 1976, was a member of the Party of Regions and a Member of the Verkhovna Rada for the fifth and sixth legislative periods .

His wife Olga is Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce of Donetsk Oblast and was awarded the Order of Princess Olga III in January 2014. Class excellent.
