The Witimplateau ( Russian Витимское плоскогорье / Witimskoje ploskogorje ) in the Republic of Buryatia , Siberia , Russia ( Asia ) is a bis 1200 1600 m high highlands of South Siberian mountains .
The Witim Plateau, 200 to 350 km east of Lake Baikal , is south of the Stanowoi Highlands , north of the Jablonowy Mountains and east of the Ikat Mountains . The highland by the confluence of Tschina and Witimkan resulting Lena creek Vitim flows through it and takes it, inter alia, by the lake Baunt running Zipa with her flowing by the plateau inflow Zipikan on. In the highlands there is a volcanic field with cinder cones that were active until 810,000 years ago.
In the sparsely populated Vitim plateau is the village of Romanowka , which is located on the Vitim River and at the junction of the regional road R437 (leads as a cul-de-sac through the highlands to Bagdarin ) from the R436 (runs from Ulan-Ude through Sosnowo-Oserskoje and Romanowka to Chita ).
