Vladimir Alexandrovich Nemilow ( Russian Владимир Александрович Немилов * June 29 . Jul / 11. July  1891 greg. In St. Petersburg , † 8. February 1950 ) was a Russian chemist , metallurgist and university teachers .

Life

Nemilov came from an old-believing family. His father was the 1st guild merchant AK Nemilow. He attended the German Petri School , which he graduated with honors in the Real Estate Department in 1908. He then studied chemistry at the St. Petersburg Polytechnic Institute . In 1913 he took part in an internship with other students in Sormowo Rajon near Nizhny Novgorod . In 1917 he graduated from Nikolai Kurnakow as an engineer - metallurgist .

In 1920 he began to work as an engineer at the SewKabel plant. In 1926 he moved to the Platinum Institute of the Commission for the Study of Natural Productive Forces of Russia (KEPS), which in 1930 became the Institute for Platinum and Precious Metals of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (AN-SSR) . There he received his doctorate in chemical sciences . In 1934 he organized and then headed the laboratory for precious metal alloys in the new Kurnakov Institute for General and Inorganic Chemistry of the AN-SSR in Moscow . In 1936 he became a professor at Moscow University .

Nemilow studied binary and ternary alloys mainly of platinum and palladium . He found new noble metal compounds and clarified the dependence of the physical properties on the composition of the ternary alloys examined. He also examined intermetallic compounds . He described his work in more than 65 specialist articles. In 1947 his textbook on general metallography was published . In 1948 he received the Stalin Prize for developing a new process for the synthesis of ammonia .

Nemilov's son is the physical chemist Sergei Wladimirowitsch Nemilow .
