Vladimir Igorewitsch Sawjalow ( Russian Владимир Игоревич Завьялов ; born October 22, 1952 in Moscow ) is a Russian historian and archaeologist .

Life

Savyalov studied at the Faculty of History of Lomonosov University Moscow (MGU). During his studies he worked as a laboratory assistant at the State Historical Museum from 1974 to 1975 . He then worked as a laboratory assistant and then as a research assistant at the Institute of Archeology of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (AN-SSSR, since 1991 Russian Academy of Sciences (RAN)). He repeatedly took part in archaeological expeditions to different parts of Russia, such as Novgorod , old Ryazan , central Russia and Svalbard . He completed his studies at MGU in 1979 at the Chair of Archeology. Boris Alexandrovich Kolchin , Valentin Lavrentjewitsch Janin and Valentin Vasilievich Sedov were among his teachers . In 1990 he received his doctorate as a candidate in historical sciences with his dissertation on the medieval iron processing industry in the Kama - Vjatka basin .

In 2004 Zavyalov became head of the Ryazan Archaeological Expedition of the RAN Archaeological Institute and head of the Architectural Museum Park with the Ryazan Kremlin.

In 2006 Sawjalow received his doctorate in historical sciences with his dissertation on the blacksmithing trade of the Permian peoples in the Middle Ages . Russian blacksmithing remained a focus of his many publications in the Middle Ages.
