history

The three-storey bricks that are representative Wilhelminian building with the central striking gabled bay window was around the year 1900 as a house Reinike in the style of historicism and in the formal language of eclecticism construction (mixture of styles) for the hauliers and postmaster Adolf Reineke. Walter Reineke's first Cuxhaven bus company (COG) had its headquarters and workshop here on Schwarzen Weg from 1925. The business premises of the COG were later in Meyerstraße (today the depot). At the beginning of 1974 the COG was transferred to the Stader Kraftverkehr GmbH (KVG).
Today (2020) the house is used for apartments, offices and shops.

The buildings Deichstrasse 4 , 5 to 8 , 10 , 12A , 13a , 20 and 40 are also under monument protection, for No. 12 the monument protection was lifted.
