Wolf-Christian Dullo
Wolf-Christian Dullo (born April 24, 1954 in Nuremberg ) is a marine geologist at the Helmholtz Center for Ocean Research Kiel (GEOMAR) and professor (C4) for paleo-oceanography.
Wolf-Christian Dullo studied geology , mineralogy and paleontology at the Friedrich Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg . After teaching in Erlangen and Heidelberg, he was offered a professorship for paleo-oceanography at the research center for marine geosciences at Christian Albrechts University in Kiel.
From 1999 until it merged with the Institute for Oceanography to form the Leibniz Institute for Marine Sciences since 2012, Helmholtz Center for Ocean Research Kiel (GEOMAR) in 2004, he was director of the research center.
He has researched in the field of sclerochronology of stony corals and in particular worked on the short-scale interactions between ocean and atmosphere in the image of geochemical proxies in the coral skeleton. His research generally focuses on reef formations , both in the tropical regions and increasingly in the cold water regions of the higher latitudes.
Awards and memberships
- In 2002 he was awarded the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize .
- 2004 elected member of the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina
- 2015 North German Science Award together with Hebbeln ( MARUM ) and André Freiwald ( Senckenberg am Meer )
