Wolfgang Auler

Wolfgang Auler (born May 21, 1904 in Dortmund , † 1986 ) was a German organist .

life and work

Auler studied in Dortmund, Frankfurt am Main and Leipzig with Karl Straube, among others . He worked as an organist in Gottesberg and Berlin . He taught at the College for Teacher Training in Hirschberg , from 1939 to 1941 at the Conservatory in Linz, from 1941 to 1949 at the State Music School in Braunschweig and then until 1953 at the Cologne University of Music . In addition, he held the position of organ expert for the Evangelical Church of Westphalia. In 1961 he was appointed church music director. During the National Socialist era , Auler, along with Gotthold Frotscher, advocated the inclusion of the organ in National Socialist celebrations.
