Wolfgang Daffinger

Wolfgang Daffinger (born December 28, 1927 in Weinheim ; † November 14, 2013 there ) was a Baden-Württemberg politician of the SPD . From 1962 to 1996 he was a member of the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg .

education and profession

After elementary school in Weinheim and training as a machine fitter, Wolfgang Daffinger was a soldier in World War II . After the war he worked as an apprentice trainer and toolmaker. In 1952 and 1953 he studied in the USA. From 1956 he was executive chairman of the German Trade Union Federation (DGB) and from 1976 to 1981 head of the DGB branch office in Weinheim. From 1982 to 1990 he was first mayor of the city of Weinheim.

Political activity

From 1958 to 1982 Wolfgang Daffinger was the local association chairman of the SPD in Weinheim. From 1953 he was city councilor in Weinheim and from 1959 district councilor in the Mannheim district . In 1966 he was defeated by Theo Gießelmann in the election for Lord Mayor of Weinheim . From 1973 he was a district councilor in the newly formed Rhein-Neckar district and from November 17, 1962, when he replaced Willi Rieple , a member of the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg, until 1996.
