However, since he lacked longer working times, he returned to SG Köndringen / Teningen. On April 12, 1986, the team then succeeded in promotion to the second division. However, immediate descent followed. Ehrler completed a total of 356 games as a player for the first team of the SG. His last game was the victory in the SHV Cup final against the TuS Helmlingen in 2000. Today he is still active as a player in the third team of the SG and made it to the district league with the team in the 2011/12 season.

For the next four years he held the office without the support of Adalstein Jonsson before he was inherited by Roman Kowalczyk. During this time he rose with the SG Köndringen / Teningen twice in the Baden-Württemberg Oberliga ( 1999/2000 and 2001/02 ) and achieved immediate promotion each time. Since the 2003/04 season he managed to keep the team in the third division. On May 7, 2011, at his own request, the last game of SG Koendringen / Teningen as coach was for him. After a total of 17 years as a trainer at SG, he was replaced by Ole Andersen .
