Wolfgang Elz

Wolfgang Elz (* 1956 in Koblenz ) is a German historian .

Life

Elz studied history , mathematics , education and sociology at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz . In 1980 he passed the state examination and completed his community service in 1981/82 .

He then became a research assistant at the History Department of the University of Mainz. In 1988 he was at Winfried Baumgart with the dissertation The European powers and the Cretan uprising from 1866 to 1867 to the Dr. phil. PhD. In 1992 he became Academic Councilor , Academic Senior Councilor in 1998 and Academic Director in 2009 .

He teaches recent and recent history and researches the history of international relations and German foreign policy .
