Wolfgang G. Müller (* 1951 in Bruchsal ) is a German politician ( SPD ) and former Lord Mayor of Lahr / Black Forest .

education and profession

He obtained a diploma in administrative sciences in 1977 and received his doctorate in social sciences from the University of Konstanz in 1981. He then worked in various research, lecturing and speaking positions, including being a consultant at the Society for Technical Cooperation (GTZ) in Brazil and El Salvador , an economic attaché at the German Embassy in Brasilia and a consultant in the policy department at the Federal Ministry of Economics the international department.

Political activity

Müller has been a member of the SPD since 1971. In 1997 he was elected Lord Mayor of Lahr / Black Forest with 63 percent of the valid votes cast in the second ballot , in 2005 he was re-elected with 76 percent in the first ballot and in 2013 without an opponent. In autumn 2019, he reached the previous age limit still applicable to him and could therefore not remain in office until the end of his electoral term in 2021. Müller has been a district councilor (member of the district council ) of the Ortenau district since 1999 and a member of the association assembly of the Southern Upper Rhine Regional Association . Müller is a son of the SPD politician Friedrich Müller and married to Elke Oberg, with whom he has a daughter.
