Wolfgang grid

Wolfgang Grid (born May 30, 1930 in Oelsnitz / Vogtland ; † February 26, 2018 ) was a German legal scholar with a focus on social law and a professor at the University of Bayreuth .

Live and act

Wolfgang grid began in 1952 at the Eberhard Karls University of Tuebingen both jurisprudence and later economics to study. In 1952 he became a member of the Derendingia fraternity in Tübingen . In 1956 he passed his first state examination. In 1960, he was in Edward core to Dr. iur. PhD . He finished his legal clerkship in 1961 with the second state examination . In the same year Wolfgang Grid became a research assistant at the University of Tübingen. There he completed his habilitation under Erich Fechner in 1969 with a paper on compensation for damages under industrial accident law .

Subsequently, between 1970 and 1977 he was a full professor at the Ruhr University in Bochum and at the same time also a judge at the State Social Court of North Rhine-Westphalia in Essen . From 1977 until his retirement in 1998 Wolfgang Grid was a full professor at the University of Bayreuth . There he organized the Bayreuth Social Law Days from 1979.

In addition, after reunification, grid was involved in the establishment of the law faculty of the University of Leipzig and from 1991 to 1993 its founding dean. In 1994, the University of Leipzig awarded him an honorary doctorate in recognition of his achievements . In addition, Wolfgang Grid received the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon in 1980 and the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class in 1992.
