Wolfgang Glätzle

Wolfgang Glätzle (* 1951 in Reutte , Austria ) studied chemistry and business administration. Its official botanical author's abbreviation is " Glaetzle ".

Live and act

Wolfgang Glätzle was an assistant at the Institute for Organic Chemistry at the University of Innsbruck from 1976 to 1979. Since 1980 he has been working for an international group of companies in Reutte.

From 1978 to 1986 he was chairman of the Tyrol regional group within the Society of Austrian Cactus Friends .

Glätzle dealt among other things with the micromorphology of seed coats , pollen and epidermis of cacti . Together with Heimo Friedrich he worked on the genus Echinopsis . The results of these investigations were published in Bradleya 1:96 (1983) in the form of some recombinations of plants previously regarded as Lobivia belonging to the genus Echinopsis .

Echinopsis calochlora subsp. glaetzleana was found in 1983by Leopoldo Horst and Pierre Braun while exploring the southern foothills of the huge Pantanal swamp.
