Wolfgang Golther

Wolfgang Golther (born May 25, 1863 in Stuttgart , † December 14, 1945 in Rostock ) was a German philologist and literary historian . He is considered a co-founder of Wagner philology.

Life

Golther, temporarily rector and dean, as well as director of the Rostock University Library since 1907 , gave lectures at the Institute for German Studies at Rostock University from 1895 to 1932 . Golther's main research areas were Germanic mythology and German literature of the Middle Ages . Golther's works are still considered standard works today.
