Wolfgang Heider (born December 14, 1558 in Wölfis / Thuringia ; † August 16, 1626 in Jena ) was a German professor of ethics and politics and university rector .

Life

Heider was born in 1558 as the son of the farmer Salomon Heider in Wölfis and his wife Anna Funck. After attending secondary schools in Ohrdruf, Magdeburg and Hildesheim , he went to Jena in 1580 and received his master's degree in 1583 and a professorship for ethics and politics in 1587. Heider was dean of the Philosophical Faculty twelve times and in the summer semester of 1591, as well as rector of the Alma Mater in 1607 . The history of the University of Jena shows Heider to be one of the first representatives of a subject in our faculty (the Philosophical Faculty). He was professor of ethics and politics from 1587 until his death in 1626. He also dealt with economic and educational issues and worked for many years as an inspector for the scholarship holders. Heider died in 1626.

Heider married Margaretha Crusi in 1583, the daughter of the Jena protonotary Albert Crusii (* 1536 in Jena (Krause)). The marriage resulted in six sons and four daughters. His second marriage was in 1600 with Barbara (* Jena; † June 26, 1604 ibid.), The daughter of the councilor in Jena Quirin Sachse (Saxonis). There are three daughters from the marriage. In 1605 he married Barbara, the daughter of the pastor Johannes Breuning, the stepdaughter of the Jena mathematics professor Georg Limnäus , the third marriage. From the first marriage there are three sons and three daughters. One of the children known is the daughter Barbara Heider (* July 30, 1601 in Jena; † October 11, 1634 in Breitenbach / Thuringia), who is with the pastor Mag.Elias Johannes Hesling (* around 1605 in Arnstadt; around 1667 in Kleinschmalkalden ) married. As well as the sons Wolfgang, Friedrich and Albinus, who were matriculated free of charge in Jena in 1591. And Bernhard Heider, who was matriculated in 1605.
