Wolfgang Krause (politician)

Wolfgang Krause (born February 4, 1936 in Breslau ; † June 4, 2020 ) was a German politician ( CDU ).

Professional background

After graduating from high school , Krause completed an apprenticeship as a machine fitter. He then studied at the Bernburg Engineering School (engineer for chemical apparatus construction) and at the Technical University of Leuna-Merseburg (graduate engineer for process engineering). He worked in large chemical companies, in Coswig (Anhalt) as a designer and in the VEB Fermentation Chemistry Dessau as a production engineer. From 1972 to 1990 he was chief designer there.

Private

Wolfgang Krause was a Protestant and married.

Political party

Krause became a member of the CDU in the GDR in 1954 . From November 1989 to February 1990 he was district chairman of the CDU Dessau.

MP

In the first free election in the GDR on March 18, 1990, Krause became a member of the People's Chamber . With the reunification on October 3, 1990, he was co-opted as one of 144 members of the Volkskammer in the German Bundestag. Here he was a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee and the Committee on Regional Planning, Building and Urban Development. In the elections for the 12th and 13th German Bundestag , he won constituency 289 directly with 36.5% and 39.4% respectively.
