Wolfgang Lampe (born January 30, 1953 ; † July 13, 2015 ) was a German mining engineer , non-fiction author , mining historian and archivist .

Lampe grew up in Herzberg am Harz and graduated from the Ernst-Moritz-Arndt-Gymnasium there. In 1973 he began his mining studies at the TU Clausthal , which he graduated with a diploma in 1979. He completed his eager training in the Grund ore mine and then did his legal traineeship in the Clausthal Mining Authority. In 1981 he started his service in the Goslar Mining Authority . Here, among other things, he was responsible for aerial ropeway systems , machine technology and mine safety and, in later years, for old mining . He played a decisive role in the approval of the Roter Bär educational mine in St. Andreasberg. Most recently he was employed as a senior minister in the State Office for Mining, Energy and Geology (LBEG) in Clausthal-Zellerfeld .

From 1999 to 2013 he headed the Lower Saxony Mountain Archive in Clausthal-Zellerfeld , which was relocated to a functional building and fundamentally reorganized during his service time.

In 2010 he was awarded a Dr.-Ing. PhD. The subject of his dissertation was copper slate mining and metallurgy in the southern Harz region of Hanover. A historical, technical, economic and social as well as legal history investigation including a documentation of found relics of the examined mining and metallurgy .

Lampe was considered a well-founded expert on the historical Upper and West Harz mining industry . On this topic, he organized several conferences and colloquia, such as the colloquium on the 200th anniversary of the Tiefen Georg-Stollen in 1999 on the 175th anniversary of the invention of the wire rope in 2009 and presented numerous publications. Since 2005, Lampe has been co-editor of the General Harz-Berg Calendar . Furthermore, he sat in several clubs, so he was an assessor of the Heimat- und Geschichtsverein Herzberg e. V. and member of the project group Montanregion Harz in the historical commission for Lower Saxony and Bremen .
