Wolfgang Liesen

Wolfgang Liesen (* 1936 in Gelsenkirchen ) is a German sculptor .

Life

After an apprenticeship as a stonemason from 1953 to 1956, Wolfgang Liesen studied from 1956 first at the Folkwang School in Essen and from 1958 to 1962 at the Düsseldorf Art Academy, first under Sepp Mages , then under Joseph Beuys .

In 1962 Liesen moved to the Essen district of Kettwig , where he ran a studio behind his apartment at Kirchfeldstrasse 8 in the rear building until 1973 . He then lived in "Hattig (Mendener Straße)" and, supported by Arnhard Scheidt , ran a studio in the "Haus" Scheidt im Kirchfeld "(Kirchfeldstraße 16)" until 1979. With the support of the city of Essen, Liesen relocated his studio to the "Artwork Street (Dinnendahl)" in the Bergershausen district .

From 1980 to 1984 Wolfgang Liesen took part in its annual exhibitions as a full member of the German Association of Artists . Liesen has been working in his studio in the disused municipal waterworks Kettwig in Bachstrasse since 1987 .
