Wolfgang Müller-Funk (born December 14, 1952 in Bremen ) is an Austrian literary and cultural scientist .

Life

Müller-Funk grew up in Munich , Vienna and Ulm . From 1971 to 1977 he studied German , history and philosophy at the University of Munich . In 1977 he made his master's degree . From 1983 to 1990 Müller-Funk was a lecturer at the University of Munich. From 1993 to 1998 he was a university lecturer at the universities in Vienna and Klagenfurt . In 1999 he was appointed Professor of German Cultural Studies at the University of Birmingham . In 2009 Müller-Funk became Professor of Cultural Studies at the Institute for European and Comparative Linguistics at the University of Vienna, and has been a Fellow at the Institute for Human Sciences in Vienna since 2019 .

Wolfgang Müller-Funk has been married to the artist Sabine Müller-Funk since 1978 . The couple has two daughters. He is the brother of Ulrich Müller-Funk .

Kakanien Revisited

Kakanien Revisited is a blog forum founded in 2001 for interdisciplinary research in Central and Eastern Europe, which is funded by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Science and Research (BM.W_F) and the University of Vienna. Müller-Funk published several articles on the platform, which are intended to facilitate the exchange of scientists from Central Eastern and Southern Europe. The platform is now largely inactive, but all research contributions are freely accessible thanks to the platform's open access principle.
