Wolfgang Menardi (born September 26, 1977 in Innsbruck ) is an Austrian set designer as well as a theater, film and television actor.

Life

After graduating from high school, he was trained as an actor from 1997 to 2001 at the Otto Falckenberg School in Munich. This was followed by engagements at the Münchner Kammerspiele , the Théâtre national de la Colline in Paris, the Théâtre national de Strasbourg , the Thalia Theater Hamburg , the Schauspiel Köln and the RuhrTriennale . Until 2012 he was a member of the Bavarian State Theater in Munich. He also worked regularly for film and television.

In 2006 he received the Prix ​​de Souffleur for his role as “Le Fou” in the production of Le Chemin de Damas at the Théâtre national de la Colline. He received two nominations as best actor for the German Film Award at the Munich Film Festival : 2007 for his role as "Stefan" in the film Fool's Game (director: Markus F. Adrian), in 2009 for his role as "Franz Egger" in the historical one Feature film Bergblut (Director: Philipp J. Pamer ).

In parallel to his work as an actor, he began working as a director and stage and costume designer in France and Germany. In 2005, in addition to his acting activities, he began studying architecture at the University of the Arts in Berlin. He works regularly with the directors Thom Luz, Yael Ronen, Thorleifur Örn Arnarsson, Falk Richter, Milos Lolic, Alexander Nerlich and Bastian Kraft.

In 2014 he was nominated as the best young artist and set designer in the critics' survey conducted by the specialist journal “Theater heute” for setting up Goethe's “Urfaust” and in 2015 for the set design for “LSD - My Problem Child”. In 2019 he was nominated for the German theater prize “Der Faust” for the production “Genesis” at the Münchner Kammerspiele.
