Wolfgang Meurer (doctor)
Wolfgang Meurer (born May 13, 1513 in Altenberg ; † February 6, 1585 in Leipzig ) was a Saxon pedagogue , meteorologist and doctor .
Life
Meurer studied philosophy and medicine at the University of Leipzig . He then became vice rector at the Thomas School in Leipzig and from 1535 to 1540 rector of the Nikolaischule . In 1549 he received his doctorate as Dr. med. and in 1571 became professor of medicine. From 1570 he worked as a city physician and councilor . He was also dean of the Leipzig Medical Faculty from 1571 to 1585 and proconsul from 1570 to 1574.
The legal scholar Philipp Meurer , who went from Leipzig to Hamburg at an early age, was his son.
