Wolfgang Mitzinger

Wolfgang Mitzinger (born February 18, 1932 in Lichtenstein-Callnberg ) is a former German politician ( SED ). He was Minister for Coal and Energy in the GDR .

Life

Mitzinger, the son of a worker, trained as an electrician in Espenhain from 1946 to 1949 and then worked there as a company electrician. After attending the mining engineering school in Zwickau for three years , he was an electrical engineer and main energy specialist in Geiseltal .

The SED member Mitzinger became an employee of the State Planning Commission in 1960 . From 1962 to 1964 he was Deputy Head of the Coal Industry Department in the National Economic Council and then until 1968 General Director of VVB Kraftwerke Cottbus . In 1967/1968 he was also a member of the district parliament and temporarily a member of the SED district leadership in Cottbus .

From 1968 to 1971 he was State Secretary and First Deputy Minister for Basic Industry. After attending the “Karl Marx” party college , he was State Secretary in the Ministry for Coal and Energy from 1972, and then Minister for Coal and Energy in the GDR from June 1979 to November 1989. He then was Deputy Minister for Heavy Industry in the Modrow government until April 1990 .

Awards

Mitzinger was awarded the Bronze Patriotic Order of Merit in 1970 and the Labor Banner in 1982.
